Gervinho Edges Closer, Osvaldo On Way Out?

Walter Sabatini has flown out to complete the €8m purchase of Arsenal’s winger Gervinho. The Ivorian international has endured an unsuccesful spell at the Emirates, having scored only 9 goal in 45 appearances for the club. Roma hope that Rudi Garcia, who worked with Gervinho at Lille, can help the Ivorian return to the succesful form he had in France, where he scored 28 goals in 67 appearances.

Many Italian outlets are also reporting that Pablo Osvaldo is being discussed as part of a swap. One theory is that Roma would receive €10m plus Gervinho in exchange for the Italian international, who has been linked with several English clubs throughout the summer. Recently, Roma agreed to a €20m fee with Southampton for Osvaldo, but the player refused the move. Roma will look to move Osvaldo as soon as possible in order the move on from the tumultuous relationship the player and the club have.
