Ljajic Surprised By Roma’s Start

A.S Roma new-man Adem Ljajic has admitted his surprise to Roma’s fast start and proclaimed that only Juventus rival Roma for the Scudetto.

“I am always the type of person who is optimistic, but I admit I did not expect us to start so well. So far Roma have been fantastic, but we must continue taking things one match at a time, just like the manager asks. It is the only way we can win something.”

“The Scudetto? I said before I arrived from Fiorentina that only Juventus are stronger than Roma. Another four or five clubs, including us, can fight for second place. Our minimum objective is to qualify for Europe, then at the end of the day we will see where we are.”

Ljajic also commented on Roma’s upcoming fixture versus Napoli: “The Partenopei are also challengers for the Scudetto and have international champions, but if we play the way we did in the first seven games then we will certainly win. We are not inferior to Napoli. I did not play versus Inter because I had problems with my back and thigh, but I will be ready for the next match.”

The Serbian also cleared the air regarding rumors that he wished for a move to Milan but had to settle with moving to Roma instead: “I did not speak to Milan. When I did not agree to a new contract with Fiorentina, my agent told me Roma were among the clubs that were interested in me. ‘Let’s go there,’ I told him. As you can see by the table, I am extremely happy with my choice.”
