Roma will play host to Serie A cellar-dwellers Chievo Verona on Thursday as the Giallorossi look to remain unbeaten and extend their winning streak to 10 matches. Although the Venetian club has failed to impress thus far this season, they were able to manage six points from both fixtures against Roma last season.

Roma are coming off a gritty 1-0 win over Udinese at the Stadio Friuli thanks to Michael Bradley’s heroics off of the bench. Rudi Garcia has urged his team not to take Chievo lightly and admitted he is not happy with Roma’s recent performances, “For me, we have been playing worse in the last two games with Napoli and Udinese, we must keep our attention high and think about playing even better. The players who come on have done very well, but they also need to play two games in a row to enter the understanding of the group. Borriello should not play only for goals, those will come, he must play for the team. The same goes for Ljajic, we have seen the great things he has done during the games from the beginning. Chievo are typically a mid-table team, it’s not their current position. It’s a difficult game, everyone thinks that we have already won, but it is not. We have to play with the same desire and determination ever.”

On the other side, Chievo enter their tie with Roma at the very bottom of the Serie A table. The Flying Donkeys have had problems at both ends of the pitch as Giuseppe Sannino’s men have scored only 7 goals yet they have conceded 17 goals and have the second worst passing percentage in Serie A. The former Palermo manager knows that Chievo will need to play flawlessly in order to get a result against Roma, ”We need to have something more to deal with the league leaders, knowing that, yes, we are in the last place, but nothing is taken for granted in life. A.S Roma are a great team. Whoever plays, they do well. We have to go to the Olimpico knowing that we will face a team that has shiny teeth. We must be the ones with no teeth, no hair, and bring our battle faces like miners.”

Roma and Chievo will meet on Thursday, 31 October at 8:45 CET.
