Is this the season Dybala regains his peak form or will he fall short?

In recent seasons, many have considered Roma to be a little short in attacking positions. Dybala is a classy player and a lot has been expected of his leading the Roma attack, but this doesn’t mean that he is necessarily going to boss the upcoming seasons.

This year could be different. Roma will be hoping that he regains some of the form that saw him average better than a goal every two games at times during his Roma career. Having joined in 2022, it is definitely time for him to enter his prime and try to produce the form we know he is capable of.

People are often looking to make predictions about the upcoming season and the players who are going to lead the way. In the Champions League betting, the impact of a specific player can potentially make a big difference to the way that the betting markets work, and people who think Erling Haaland or Harry Kane will have the season of their lives may choose to bet accordingly. Dybala won’t be making any moves in the Champions League this season, as he will be playing in the Europa League for Roma and hoping that this competition helps him to discover his best.

Dybala hits the heights

There have been some serious highs in Dybala’s career to go with a few brief lows.

In February this year, he managed to show a glimpse of what all Roma fans thought he could provide when he scored a hat trick against Torino. He also scored his 50th goal for Roma in April and showed that he could still do it at the top level. This was during the Europa League quarter finals. Roma will be in the Europa League this season once again and this could be a spot where he thrives.

Dybala has been a fan favourite at times and has definitely turned in some stunning performances, but the same thing frustrates some Roma fans that has upset fans of other clubs he’s played for, as people accuse Dybala of going missing for some games and not necessarily being as consistent as they may wish. When he played for Juve, many fans had a similar thought process and weren’t necessarily that happy with the way that Dybala played for the club, especially in some seasons.

The media described him as being a key part of Daniele De Rossi’s rebuild at Roma but this may or may not be the case depending on what happens in the coming year. Some even speculate that he could leave after this season.

A Rough Start to the 2024/25 season

We’re only a few games into the season and it would probably be unfair to spend too much time analysing the few games. However, it hasn’t started well for Roma nor for Dybala as the team search for a good start to the new season.

So far this season, Dybala has been in the starting lineup for just one of Roma’s three Serie A fixtures, following his decision to turn down a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League late in the transfer window.

Currently, his statistics aren’t the greatest for the season. Reports from Saturday indicate that Daniele De Rossi may experiment with a new role for Paulo Dybala at Roma following his return from international duty with Argentina.

Some sources suggest De Rossi is considering deploying Dybala as a false nine for Roma’s upcoming Serie A match against Genoa, or for some other games. This tactical shift could see Dybala stepping in for Artem Dovbyk, who may be given a break after a challenging start to his time with the Giallorossi. Matías Soulé and Alexis Saelemaekers, who joined late in the summer, are both expected to retain their spots in the starting lineup.

Perhaps the need to play Dybala as a striker is one of the signs that the club really need a talismanic striker. They’ll be hoping Dovbyk can provide this. Although on international duty, Dybala did manage his first goal of the season, as he scored in the first minute of stoppage time during Argentina’s 3-0 win over Chile.

Will this be Dybala’s last season in rome?

A few players have dropped hints that they would be leaving their clubs, and there is speculation that Dybala might be tempted by a move to the Middle East.

Nobody would blame him if he opts for the money that could be on offer – there are rumours that some of the players who have recently moved to the country could be earning millions every single year, and this is one of the reasons why top clubs are worried about losing their players. Dozens have made the move to the Middle East already, including some big-name players. Dybala wouldn’t be on his own if he were to decide to set himself up for the future.

Will Dybala hit the heights?

So what do we think, will Dybala hit the heights?

This is a player who is always a threat. His ability to lead the line is unknown at this point and it is definitely an interesting prospect. If it works, Dybala could end up being one of the top scorers in the league, which would certainly make it even more painful if he leaves.

We all know what he is capable of and he is certainly a threat to all of the clubs in this league. On top of that, he will come up against some opposition in the Europa league that he will definitely fancy himself to score against. This competition sees teams from many different countries taking part and some of them aren’t up to the sort of standard Dybala is.

If he’s motivated, there’s little doubt that Paulo can potentially lead the way for Roma, but if his eye is already on a move, it’s possible he could be gone at the end of the season – or even sooner.
