Roma’s short week begins with a clear signal: Gian Piero Gasperini has returned from vacation earlier than expected.

The coach has understood that the next few days could shape much of the Giallorossi transfer market, and a face-to-face meeting with sporting director Tony D’Amico is scheduled for today at Trigoria.

The key word remains “presence.” Gasperini wants to experience the decisive phase firsthand, avoid misunderstandings, and accelerate progress on the remaining open issues.

His daily relationship with D’Amico also stems from this need: to work side by side, with the transfer market no longer suspended between video calls, waiting, and strategies to be transformed into offers.

Everything will be concentrated in a few days: renewals, Greenwood, departures, and the first signings. The July 13th meeting is just around the corner, and the coach wants to arrive there with at least part of the work already planned.

A new direct meeting with the Friedkins is not out of the question in the coming days, especially for the final green light on the offer for Greenwood. Negotiations for the Marseille striker remain the most pressing issue.

Gasperini is obsessed with the Englishman’s profile and expects a sprint this week. Roma’s initial plan, based on a €40 million plus bonuses, will need to be adjusted upwards.

At least €5 million more will be needed, plus bonuses and a percentage of the player’s future resale value. Marseille is prepared to lose Greenwood, but only on its own terms.

The French club is under UEFA scrutiny for breaching financial restrictions and needs to cash in, but is unwilling to cut corners. D’Amico hopes to fill any remaining gaps, thanks in part to the good relationship between the owners, writes La Repubblica.
