Marcus Rashford has been offered to Roma, as they seek a winger to replace Gian Piero Gasperini.
According to Football Transfer News, the experienced English striker has been linked to several clubs in recent weeks, including Italian clubs Roma and Napoli.
Returning from a loan spell at Barcelona, where he scored 13 goals in 44 appearances, the Englishman is reportedly looking for a new club where he can showcase his potential, after spending the last two seasons between Aston Villa and Catalonia.
The striker, currently in the United States for the World Cup with England, is prioritizing Champions League football, a competition in which he scored five goals in 11 appearances last year.
This is why Tottenham, the club interested, is lagging behind in the list of destinations where he could aspire to play in the continent’s premier tournament.
What’s holding him back, and Roma had to decline the offer, is the player’s salary, which amounts to a whopping €8.4 million net per year. These figures, though not definitively, are also deterring any approach from other Serie A teams.
