Wesley: “I don’t care where I play, I just want to start.”

Wesley, in a brief interview with ESPN Brasil, spoke about his move to the left flank.

A few hours before Roma vs. Inter (the match in which he was deployed on that flank for the first time last year), he recounted his transformation under Gasperini: “The coach saw I had potential there… and I don’t ask questions, right? ‘Oh, why did you put me on the left?’ I just go out there and do what he asks. So, as for my adaptation to the left: I’m happy, except that I prefer playing on the right, obviously. But I’d play anywhere, in any position, it doesn’t matter. I just want to be a starter and that’s it.”

Then on his growth in attack: “What I’m improving, and what I still need to improve, is my final third. And I know that. And now it’s much easier for me on the left, because I cut inside and cross or cut inside and shoot. So I train a lot. And that’s how I’ve adapted to the left.”
