The first time has arrived. Marten de Roon is ready to take over the reins of Roma’s midfield.

Tomorrow, against Como, the Dutchman will make his first start for the Giallorossi. Bryan Cristante’s injury opens the door for him to the starting eleven, in a match that will require experience, poise, and personality.

Gasperini has chosen to rely on a man he knows better than anyone.

The coach wanted him with him in the capital and is now ready to hand him a starting spot.

De Roon will be called upon to carry on Cristante’s legacy, ensuring order and substance alongside Koné. A significant responsibility, especially against a Como side that will test the Giallorossi midfield.

The international break also played in the Dutchman’s favor. Without any call-ups or international travel, de Roon was able to work continuously at Trigoria, using these weeks to regain top form. A sort of tailor-made program, combining physical work and training under Gasperini’s orders.

As Corriere dello Sport reports, the midfielder used the break to regain his fitness and prepare for an event he’s been waiting for since his arrival. Tomorrow, there will be no more time for waiting. It’ll be his turn against Como, with Gasperini ready to see one of his trusted players back from the start.
