Following Gian Piero Gasperini, José Mourinho also spoke at a press conference on the eve of the match at the Olimpico between Roma and Real Madrid, which will be played tomorrow at 9:00 PM.
Los Blancos enter tomorrow’s match fresh from a narrow 1-0 victory over Villarreal, in which Vinicius’s questionable red card stole the show.
In the Champions League, the Merengues are coming off a 2-1 victory over Inter at the Bernabeu on matchday one.
The Special One spoke about the strength of his opponent and former club, focusing on the battle for the top spot with Inter: “To win, you have to play well. In the first two games of the Champions League, we face the two strongest teams in Italy: Inter in the first and now Roma. They are motivated to play in the Champions League at the Olimpico, in front of a crowd that comes not just to watch the game but to play.”
Mourinho continued: “We’re facing a strong opponent, we have to work hard. We haven’t reached the crucial moments of the competition yet, we still have more games to play to qualify, but we depend on ourselves.”
