AS Roma Women are the current Italian champions having finished at the top of the Serie A in the 2022/23 season. Now eight members of the squad will seek further glory on the international stage for Italy. Only Juventus have more players featured in the Italian team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Old Lady offers more contributions to the Italian 23-player squad in quantity. But regarding quality, the reigning domestic champions will likely have the most significant impact on the nation’s World Cup chances.
Prolific Goalscorers
AS Roma Femini’s Italian starlets will be on show all over the pitch in the tournament down under. But one of the standout players is one of Serie A’s most prolific goalscorers over the last few seasons.
Valentina Giacinti is somewhat of a veteran in the Italy squad – she has put up impressive scoring numbers everywhere she has played. Giacinti is arguably the star within her nation’s ranks and is set to spearhead their charge to potential success. The favourites to win Women’s World Cup are the United States of America at 5/2, and you can also find further odds and predictions on the upcoming tournament to keep track of any team’s progress and chances of success.

Italy are a huge outsider at 100/1 to win the competition. They will likely struggle against the stronger nations, but with an in-form Giacinti leading the line, they have every chance of producing remarkable upsets in Australia and New Zealand.
Annamaria Serturini is another Roma star that will feature at the World Cup for Italy’s women’s team. She has established herself as a regular in Rome over the past several years. But for the national team, she will likely feature as a versatile attacking option available from the substitute bench.
Serturini is an impressive dribbler that can be deployed across the frontline or in attacking midfield. She will surely add more firepower courtesy of AS Roma at the World Cup.
Midfield Orchestrators
Manuela Giugliano is a key member of the Roma league-winning team, and she is also a regular at the international level. Giugliano’s playing style could be likened to the great Andrea Pirlo of the men’s game. She operates at the base of midfield and recycles possession often offering line-splitting passes.
Defensive Rocks
Elisa Bartoli is another veteran of the Italian squad for the World Cup. At 32 years-old, she has a vast level of experience on the international stage. She operates on the right side of the defence and offers a fine balance of defensive cover and attacking support.

Roma’s other right-back at club level, Lucia Di Guglielmo, has also been called up for Italy. The two club teammates are set to battle for a single starting spot at the World Cup. Bartoli will likely start as a result of her experience, but Di Guglielmo offers an excellent depth option.
Elena Linari is the final Roma representation at the tournament in Australia and New Zealand. She is a commanding central defender with a wealth of experience all over Europe under her belt.
Like Guglielmo, Linari will likely start on the bench at the competition. Overall Roma has provided Italy with some of the standout starting players for the World Cup, as well as quality options that can be used from the bench.
It may be unlikely that Italy will win the World Cup this year, but there will be huge Roma representation that will be on a huge high following their successful league campaign. Could these stars continue their trend of success this summer?
