Atalanta’s Champions League dream appears to have been dashed.

The Nerazzurri, who staged a remarkable comeback in the league after a terrible start under Juric, had a chance to dramatically re-open the race for fourth place by beating Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus last night.

The Bianconeri, however, prevailed, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from former player Boga early in the second half. Now, the gap between the two teams is a staggering seven points, and Atalanta looks set to have a tough time securing a spot in Europe’s premier competition.

Raffaele Palladino, after the match, wanted to boost his players ahead of next Saturday’s match at the Olimpico against Roma, a crucial match for a European spot: “When we fall, we get back up. We’ll go to Roma next Saturday and fight,” he told Sky Sport.

Palladino then concluded: “The defeat against Juve is a verdict we have to accept, despite an extraordinary performance: football is sometimes unfair.”
