Roma have reportedly set their sights on Daniele De Rossi’s personal favorite, Cagliari’s Matteo Prati.
The 20-year-old midfielder is said to be De Rossi’s preferred addition to Roma’s squad.
The two collaborated during De Rossi’s time at SPAL: it was the current Roma boss who launched Prati, allowing him to make his senior debut a couple of years ago in Italy’s second flight.
With Edoardo Bove increasingly being linked with a departure from the club, La Repubblica reports that Roma have lined up Prati as Bove’s replacement.
Roma’s latest offer for Prati was reportedly submitted at the beginning of August: loan with a buy option.
The offer, however, was rejected by Cagliari.
Roma’s objective is to collect a fee from Bove’s sale and reinvest it in Prati by proposing a loan with obligation to buy at around 12-13 million euros.
