The latest news from Trigoria suggest defender Chris Smalling could be eyeing an opportunity to start on Thursday night as Roma prepare to face Milan in the Europa League quarterfinals.

The Englishman recently made his return from injury and appeared off the bench in the latest win over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Daniele De Rossi is thinking of replacing Evan Ndicka – who will be suspended for the first leg in San Siro – with the veteran English centreback.

At this moment in time, Smalling is favored to start ahead of Diego Llorente who delivered an excellent performance in derby on Saturday.
