With domestic European leagues now on a temporary pause to enable the first ever winter World Cup out in Qatar to take place, club news for the vast majority of football fans is at a premium, and although not entirely unexpected, the media are utterly focused on World Cup stories and news, but we have certainly seen a spike is what many will believe is mostly press invented transfer speculation and rumour mill noise.

There are however a couple of bits of speculation out there that do seem to make a fair bit more sense when looked at from the perspective of AS Roma, and one of those rumours is our apparent interest in Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola. Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti seems to have quite a few spare parts at the Santiago Bernabeu right now and 26 year old, four capped Spanish international right back Odriozola is definitely in the spare part camp right now as he is yet to make a single appearance for the side during the paused and disrupted 2022/23 campaign. For those who like a flutter good odds on a transfer happening are probably as lucrative as your odds at something like https://www.slotozilla.com/uk/minimum-deposit-casino.

The players quality is clear following his time at Real Sociedad, and he has appeared for Los Blancos in more than 40 games after they were reportedly willing to offer in excess of 35 million Euros for his services, and he most recently showing his talents during a loan spell with fellow Serie A side Fiorentina in the 2021/22 campaign, so Roma’s interest in him is not that strange when you look at the bigger picture and although his career might have gone a little bit off track after such a huge move so quickly in his development, Serie A obviously poses him few problems if he wants to get himself back on track properly. Juventus are naturally also linked with being interested in his services.

In other, far less useful and entertaining news, Roma fans will again be concerned that we are yet to tie down talented Nico Zaniolo to a new and improved, lengthened contract. The 23 year old 11 capped Italian international midfield talent has made a great name for himself since joining the club from Inter Milan back in 2018, and it is now being reported that the Azzurri star could be tempted to switch Rome for Turin, as despite negotiations taking place for quite a while now, no new deal seems to yet be on the cards, and this is obviously lovely news to Juventus (yes them again) who have also been long linked with having an interest in him.

Some outlets are naturally reporting that a potential January deal for the player is close, if not already on the cards given the delay with his new Roma deal, but the player is not out of contract until the summer of 2024 so Roma still have a fair bit of power here in any potential negotiations – however, fans will certainly feel a lot better on this front if a new deal can be agreed before the domestic Italian league recommences at the end of the World Cup in early January.
