Daniele De Rossi has identified Roma’s defending on headed efforts and especially ones that come off crosses as the thing to focus on in training throughout the coming weeks.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have conceded ten headed goals this season: only Frosinone and Lecce have done worse, conceding one more than the Giallorossi.

The last few matches have highlighted this difficulty in man marking and in high ball situations. The last one is Ranieri in the match against Fiorentina, but before that also Paixao in the Europa League with Feyenoord, Zapata in Rome-Turin, Acerbi in the match against Inter and Kastanos in the away match to Salerno.

In short, the goals conceded are largely from headed efforts as well as coming from crosses: ten, including corners kicks.

De Rossi’s change of formation has indeed helped Roma to score more goals (2.7 per game), but has exposed the team more in the defensive phase, with eleven goals conceded in thirteen games: 0.8 goals conceded per match.
