Roma must consider the possible sale of Manu Koné.

In England, there’s talk of an imminent agreement with Manchester United, and the Frenchman’s departure would allow the Giallorossi to settle their accounts.

The departure of the number 17, however, would leave a void in midfield that would be difficult to fill.

Among the names on the list to replace him, according to Teleradiostereo, is Atalanta’s Ederson. The Brazilian was a loyal supporter of the Grugliasco-born coach in Bergamo.

The player enjoys a good relationship with both the coach, who would welcome the possibility of having the 1999-born player back, and with Tony D’Amico. A successful outcome, however, is not a given due to the tense relations between the clubs.

Atalanta had sold Ederson to Manchester United for around €45 million, but the Brazilian failed a medical with the Red Devils.

The Bergamaschi plan to offer the player a new contract, but if an offer similar to the one previously accepted arrives, the Nerazzurri would once again be open to leaving.

The player faces competition from Newcastle, who certainly have plenty of money: the Magpies sold Sandro Tonali for €100 million and are now looking for a replacement.

Previous friction between the Giallorossi and the Percassi club makes a halfway house difficult: to secure Ederson, the Roman club will have to offer the requested fee, once Koné has been sold. An attempt will most likely be made, but the outcome remains to be seen.
