Despite not being a regular starter for Jose Mourinho’s side, the Italian winger’s veteran presence has helped several times over the past few months. However, El Shaarawy’s contract runs out in June.
Roma, reveals Corriere dello Sport, hold an option to extend his stay for an additional season until 30 May.
A decision is yet to be taken in this regard by the club’s management who are prioritizing other urgent matters for the time being.
The player is eager to extend his contract with the club, but understands that his role is marginal and therefore any discussions related to a new contract will be held later on in the New Year.
