Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to DAZN after Roma-Inter (2-2).
The Giallorossi coach was pleased with his players’ performance: “It was a game in which both teams could have won. The second-half goal changed things, energizing Inter. We never gave up on winning; it’s a match that should give us satisfaction and confidence.”
Gasperini believes the path they’ve taken is the right one: “There’s always room for improvement, even for Inter. We should be happy with the path we’re taking, and with the quality we’re bringing to these matches. It’s not just enthusiasm and desire; there’s so much positive energy in this team, and we must continue along this path.”
The coach from Grugliasco analyzed the match: “In the first half, we had plenty of space; every counterattack was dangerous. The goal in the second half energized Inter and made us nervous. I had to make changes at the back because we were struggling a bit. It’s a shame Balerdi had to come off… Dybala held out until the end, as did Soulé. We had the feeling that if we held off their pressure, the game was wide open. We should be very pleased with that.”
The Giallorossi coach spoke about yet another goal conceded early in the second half: “Probably, yes, the third time… The way we conceded was too superficial and, if you like, presumptuous. The game was on the line; we could have been dangerous on the counterattack. At 2-1, with a struggling game, Roma were always in the game, and we tried to win. We had a great chance with Malen to make it 3-1. We never gave up, despite facing a great team both technically and physically.”
