Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to DAZN on the eve of the match with Inter.

On Roma’s struggles in big games, the manager declared, “I would say that at least in the second half of the season they haven’t lost any, and therefore they are balanced matches, they are high-level matches. It’s clear that the matches we had with Juventus ahead, in Naples ahead, the same match we played against Milan, are matches that left a bit of regret in terms of the result, but if tomorrow we were capable of repeating the type of performance we put in against these teams I would undoubtedly be happy.”

“We have certainly gained experience, matches, races, certainly a team that compared to the beginning of the season has a much more effective and also more known way of approaching the matches, if you like, it is a team that has never or almost never failed in terms of motivation and also performances.”

“A month ago, we were hoping for a bit more improvement, perhaps coming out of certain clashes, given the performances we’ve had, with a few more points. I think the team has always done its job, though.”

“Malen was definitely a huge asset to this team in January, proving that the team is what really matters. Having lost Dovbyk, Ferguson, Dybala, Soulé—in short, so many attacking players compared to the first half of the season—at the same time, Malen brought added value, something we’ve unfortunately lost with these situations.”

“Soulé has been back with the team for two weeks, having been out for several weeks before. The first week was a bit so-so; he’s certainly not fully recovered. In the last week, he’s definitely done well.”

“Lorenzo Pellegrini has done well all year. He, like many other players. This group of players has truly been a driving force, very helpful to me. I am certainly very grateful to this entire team for the work we’ve done together so far. Now is the time to try to make the most of all these months.”

“I have an excellent relationship with the club, especially with the owners. The owners, despite what people say about financial fair play and so on, have made so many resources available, and this year too, they’ve invested so much, more than I’ve ever seen. The owners clearly also have to address past management, which in some way affects them, and with whom we need to work together to try to emerge and lead the club in the most sustainable way possible, without forgetting the need to have an ever-improving and competitive team.”
