Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini praised his men following the 0-1 win over Lazio in the latest Derby della Capitale.
“Luckily, unlike you,” Gasperini told DAZN after the match, “I can watch the training sessions and I watch the players. I see Pellegrini, how he moves and how he trains. I had no doubts about playing him today; he’s a very talented player and I think he can also be a great athlete. I’m happy for him, for the team, for the club, and for the fans, who are incredible.”
“I was satisfied with the way we played until the last ten minutes, when we risked compromising the result.”
“Pellegrini knows how to shoot very well and has excellent timing when it comes to running forward. But this doesn’t have to be his trademark; he needs to be a midfielder and also have the ability to score.”
“We can do better in attack, and everyone can improve. Ferguson and Soulé played an excellent match, even the substitutes. We’ll work on them and try to help them grow. The same goes for the others; we all need to improve our attacking skills to score more goals.”
“The team is doing well physically. We had a hard time against Torino; we didn’t play at a good pace due to the weather and taking certain things for granted. We’re growing and can have ups and downs; I want to see individual and collective improvements. We need to expand the squad and develop some players to become stronger. When you win, it’s easier to work, but I’ve always complimented the players.”
“I’m very happy, but in the final minutes I couldn’t make myself heard by the players. It was too favorable for us, and we messed up by throwing the ball away. We almost conceded, and perhaps it would have been right, given that you can’t waste those chances in the final minutes. Otherwise, a good match. I’m very happy for the fans, the team, and the club. I’m happy too, but from tonight on I’ll focus on how to do better in the final 10 minutes.”
