Gian Piero Gasperini today gave a lecture entitled “Beyond Medicine – The Courage to Make Mistakes” at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

From the Gemelli Hall, the Giallorossi coach discussed various topics with the students, including his decision to coach the Roman team.

The Grugliasco-born coach revealed the reason he accepted the Giallorossi’s courtship: “Because I still had the desire to put myself to the test and go to what everyone said was the most difficult place, Rome. I’m going to Rome because if you do well in Rome, the reward is higher. The level of risk—I may think differently, but how high was the risk? The highest.”

Gasperini then explained what motivated him: “I’m going there because I want to do well there. That was the main motivation that drove me. It’s a challenge, you live for challenges, and when I emerge from this challenge I’ll certainly have the certainty of having given my all. And for me, that’s something that’s worth more than anything else.”

His words, once he concluded his speech, were greeted with thunderous applause from the students. The Giallorossi coach, once again, demonstrated how important this challenge is to him, and the only certainty is that he’s aiming high.
