Roma defender Gianluca Mancini addressed the club’s supporters in light of their latest initiative to raise money needed to cover the recent fine the defender was given by Serie A following his controversial post-match Derby celebration.
In an Instagram post, Mancini acknowledged the fans effort but asked for the collected sum to be donated to a charity organization instead.
“Dear fans, I read about the recent initiative of fundraising to pay the fine that was imposed on me. Once again I felt your closeness, on and off the pitch.”
“Obviously I will bear the costs, but I would like part of the sum that was raised to go to La Locanda Dei Girasoli, a splendid reality that I recently got to know in Trigoria. Thanks to everyone and Forza Roma!”
Locanda Dei Girasoli is a catering service for events that focuses on social inclusion of employees with Down and Williams syndrome and other cognitive disabilities. They were recently invited for a catering event at Trigoria.
