Roma defender won’t be available for tonight’s Coppa Italia fixture against Sampdoria.

The reason for his absence is a suspension which the defender must face for events that took place last season.

In January of this year, Mancini was sent off during Roma-Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals after holding a heated confrontation with referee Orsato.

The match official produced a red card after being verbally abused by Mancini who was acting as captain.

The Sporting Judge’s verdict at the time was clear: a three-match suspension worth the Round of 16 and the possible quarter-finals and first leg of the tournament’s semi-final.
