Mario Hermoso’s stellar run with the Giallorossi is not going unnoticed in Spain.
In his home country, rumors of a possible call-up to the Roma defender’s national team have resurfaced.
The Spanish newspaper AS reported on the matter, highlighting the Giallorossi center-back’s growth, emphasizing his build-up skills and ability to connect defense and midfield.
According to the newspaper, this performance could open doors for Mario Hermoso to the Spanish national team again. He’s coming off a strong run under Gasperini, which included scoring in Roma’s 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava.
The defender could be included in coach Luis de la Fuente’s evaluation for the November squad.
According to AS, other factors that favor Hermoso’s call-up include Laporte’s lackluster performance, Pubill’s struggles to establish himself at Atlético Madrid, and Huijsen’s limited role in de la Fuente’s tactical plans.
He turned 31 on June 18th and has represented La Roja on five occasions, most recently on September 8, 2019, in Spain’s 4-0 victory over the Faroe Islands.
