Roma earned a 1-1 draw at the Dall’Ara, tipping the balance toward the return leg at the Olimpico.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team struck at the right time, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from the Rossoblu.

Vincenzo Italiano spoke to Sky Sport after the match, analyzing the Europa League match.

On the overall match analysis: “I don’t know whether to be disappointed by the result, because we created a few more chances, or happy to have rediscovered the right spirit in the lads. We responded to Sunday’s defeat with a top-level performance. It was a great match against a great team. Nothing to complain about other than that reading of the goal, which in my opinion doesn’t allow us to win a game in which we showed something extra.”

On the match refereeing and the physical duels involving Ndicka: “The referee was too lenient with Ndicka, who fouled Castro quite a few times. He played dirty, but that said, the referee’s line was the same throughout the match, and that’s fine.”

“Of course, we wanted to be even more dangerous to secure an even better result at home, but that’s how it went, and we’ll play it out at their home.”
