Roma unveiled new goalkeeping addition Rui Patricio to the media today following his move to the club last week.

The veteran shot-stopped officially joined the Giallorossi from Wolves for €11.5 million, inking a three-year contract.

“I decided to come here because Roma is a huge club,” began the Portuguese international. “I’m here to do my best and help contribute to the team. I’m honored to be here.”

“Obviously I accepted Roma because of how important the club is, but I also chose to join because of the manager, Mourinho.”

Adding, “It’s an honor for me to be able to defend the importance of this club, I can promise that you will always receive my absolute maximum commitment.”

“I’ve only been here for five days, but I’ve been well received by everyone. I’m still learning some of the mechanisms that the manager asks of the team, but we still have time to continue working on this.”

“I’m extremely eager and motivated to train, to work, and adapt along with the rest of my teammates.”

The Giallorossi hope the 33 year-old can bring some much-needed stability to the position—which has become a revolving door ever since the 2018 departure of Alisson to Liverpool.

Patricio is now the fourth goalkeeper purchased by the capital club since the Brazilian’s exit, but it’s not something the ex-Sporting man is concerned about.

“It’s neither a concern nor an extra bit of motivation for me. Every footballer wants to meet expectations when they join a new club, I’m here to work and improve.”

He concluded, “I’m adapting to the team, but I feel good so far and I’m incredibly motivated.”
