Leonardo Bonucci is close to agreeing on a new deal with Roma as he is set to depart Union Berlin on a free transfer.

Less than six months into his spell in the German Bundesliga, Bonucci is reportedly nearing a move back to Serie A where Jose Mourinho’s Roma are ready to welcome him.

According to SOS Fanta, Roma continue their positive talks with Bonucci’s agent – the player’s arrival has already been approved by Mourinho himself. The Special One is awaiting defensive reinforcements in January and the veteran centreback represents a good fit for Mourinho’s squad.

In the meantime, Roma are said to be also evaluating other players – Bonucci’s arrival wouldn’t exclude the signing of another defender.
