Milan are set to lose one of their star defenders for an extended period of time.

23-year-old French centreback Pierre Kalulu has in fact been ruled out of action for around 4 months.

Kalulu underwent surgery today to resolve the complete rupture of the left rectus femoris tendon which he suffered a few days ago in the match against Milan.

The defender’s lengthy recovery period means he will miss the return leg against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on 14 January.
