José Mourinho, fresh from Benfica’s Champions League victory over Napoli, addressed the press conference with a clear-eyed look at Serie A and the ambitions of his former team, Roma.
Drawing on his Italian experience, the Special One spoke in Italian, analyzing the ongoing Scudetto race.
When asked about the title race, Mourinho was blunt, while not hiding his Roma faith: “The Scudetto? I think it’s a question between Inter, Milan, and Napoli, and I’m disappointed because I’d be running to the Circus Maximus myself…”
The reference is crystal clear: Mourinho dreams of the title for Roma, sharing the excitement of every fan, but the analysis of the current situation leaves little to the imagination.
Regarding the possible winner, the former coach explained his prediction, reluctantly ruling out Roma: “Who will win? It’s difficult. Inter have tremendous potential with a top squad, and Napoli are the same. Milan play a game a week, and they have a fantastic coach in Max, who can manage in a way that Cristian and Antonio can’t because they have so many games to play. Unfortunately, I think it will be one of these three because I’d love to do so and would go to the Circus Maximus myself, but I don’t think so.”
