The continued emergence of Roma’s young shot-stopper, Mile Svilar, has reportedly attracted the gaze of multiple Premier League clubs.

Multiple media reports suggest that Mile Svilar’s impressive performances could attract various Premier League clubs into a summer move for him. The 24-year-old has been a significant part of Roma’s upturn in form since Daniele De Rossi took over as manager.

The young Belgian goalkeeper signed for Roma on a free transfer from Benfica in 2022 but has only recently had a solid run of games to demonstrate his ability. Svilar came into the team in February and seems to have dislodged the previous starter, Rui Patricio.

The Premier League teams interested in the young goalkeeper have yet to be named, but several clubs are said to be monitoring his situation. The same can be said for several clubs in Spain if recent media reports are accurate.

Svilar’s current deal at Roma runs until the summer of 2027, but the club’s hierarchy has already planned summer talks over an improved contract. Tying down the young goalkeeper will be a priority for De Rossi and those above him at the club.

The spending power of Premier League clubs should be a concern for Roma fans. The level of financial package they can offer often forces European clubs to sell. However, it appears Roma are intent on keeping Svilar as part of their De Rossi led rebuild.

Svilar’s International future is also up in the air. He has previously turned down a call-up to the Serbian National Team as he favoured playing for his native Belgium. However, recent reports suggest he would now be open to playing for Serbia if they handed him a place in their squad at this summer’s EURO 2024 tournament in Germany.

As Svilar has emerged as a critical component of Roma’s resurgence under De Rossi, the club must ensure he remains in Rome for the foreseeable future.
