Former Roma and Milan executive Frederic “Ricky” Massara has been appointed the new sporting director of Rennes.
The French side announced the arrival of the 55 year-old—officially marking his return since his departure from the Rossoneri in June 2023. Massara was selected to replace former technical director Florian Maurice, who joined Nice after Florent Ghisolfi left for Roma.
“The Stade Rennais F.C. announces Frederic Massara as new sporting director for the 2024/2025 season,” the club wrote on their website.
“At Stade Rennais F.C., Frederic Massara will lead the club’s sporting strategy, from youth development to the first team, and will work closely with Olivier Cloarec, Executive President and General Manager.”
“This appointment is part of a significant investment cycle aimed at the long-term development of the club, focusing on two main pillars: maintaining a high level of sporting ambition for the professional team and enhancing its training center, recognized as one of the most efficient in Europe.”
