Niccolò Pisilli was sidelined a few weeks ago with a calf problem that Roma is treating with great care.
A delicate area of the leg, it requires a few more days for full recovery and to avoid relapses, as the player admitted today: “I’m working on getting back to work; I should be fully recovered in a week.”
He will therefore be fully available again starting next week.
Meanwhile, the Giallorossi midfielder spoke from his training camp in Wales, admitting that he never considered leaving Roma: “I’ve never had anything else in my head other than Roma. I’ve never really had this thought of leaving. Certainly last January, when my agent and I saw that I hadn’t played much, we thought about finding an alternative. But in the end, things worked out well, both for me and for the team, and I’m the happiest guy in the world.”
Regarding the intensity of Gasperini’s work, Pisilli, in his second consecutive training camp with the Grugliasco-born coach, confirmed the training sessions to: “The coach is always the same; he makes us work hard and intensely. From the first few days, we’ve had double sessions, and we’ve often slept at Trigoria because our goal is to be as ready as possible for the start of the league and the Champions League. We’re working really hard.”
The Giallorossi midfielder also discussed his role, given that Gasperini has used him as a defensive midfielder but also as a midfielder: “The important thing is the ideas, it’s never the formation or the specific role. The important thing is that I play and that I do it in the best way possible, because as I said, it seems like things can change a lot, but on the pitch, there are concepts and ideas from the coaches that make the difference. You can play 10 meters forward but be more free to push forward, or you can start a little further back and attack the goal often. In the end, what matters are the ideas and finding the right balance.”
