Roma are waiting for Chris Smalling to make a decision regarding his own future as the veteran defender nears the end of his current contract and has not made use of the option allowing him to extend his stay.
According to Sky Sport, Roma are confident that Smalling and his entourage will eventually agree that continuing to play for the Giallorossi is the best solution for everyone involved.
However, if the ex-Man United were to leave at the end of the season, Roma would make a considerable investment to secure a suitable replacement.
