Roma is considering selling Stephan El Shaarawy as early as January.

According to today’s edition of Il Messaggero, there has been no progress in negotiations to extend the number 92’s contract, as he currently doesn’t appear to be part of the club’s long-term plans.

The Giallorossi have therefore decided to accelerate his departure, seeking to sell him to save on his salary and avoid losing him for free in the summer.

This decision could prove strategic for reducing the balance sheet, but it marks the end of a cycle for the striker.

The former AC Milan and Genoa player is one of the team’s captains and is one of Roma’s current icons in terms of appearances and goals scored. In the first half of the season, he has made 13 Serie A appearances without finding the back of the net.

His only goal was a Europa League goal at the Olimpico against Midtjylland.
