Roma are reportedly interested in Atalanta defender Mitchel Bakker.

The Dutch fullback joined the Bergmaschi in the summer from Bayer Leverukusen for €10 million.

However, so far Bakker has failed to meet Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini’s expectations, earning a mere 42 minutes in Serie A so far this season.

As a result, the player could depart Bergamo in January, less than six months into his time in Italy.

According to Italian journalist Francesco Balzani, Roma would be keen to sign Bakker on loan. The fullback fits Roma’s defensive requirements and needs amidst a busy schedule and the uncertain future of Leonardo Spinazzola.

The capital club are reportedly planning to inquire about the possibility of signing Bakker on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.
