Roma have reportedly slowed down in their negotiations with Fiorentina for a swap deal involving Andrea Belotti and Jonathan Ikone.

The two clubs had launched talks recently in order to try and secure a deal before the January transfer deadline.

Whereas Roma had prioritized the signing of an additional winger, Fiorentina showed interest in acquiring another striker for Vincenzo Italiano.

However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, at the moment the negotiation is at a standstill. The two clubs and all the parties involved took a few hours and a few days to reflect on the feasibility of the operation.

There is a lot of work to be done with regards to the two players’ salaries – an issue which numerous intermediaries were at work to resolve. More developments are expected to follow.
