Roma have shown interest in Monza defender Pablo Mari.

The capital club are currently on the look-out for additional defensive reinforcements in order to boost Jose Mourinho’s backline in the absence of Chris Smalling (injury) and, soon, Evan Ndicka (AFCON).

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma identified Mari as the ideal candidate for the job.

The 30-year-old Spaniard is a pillar in Monza’s defense and fulfills all of Mourinho’s requirements.

The Giallorossi are said to have held preliminary talks with Mari’s entourage. However, the player is unlikely to depart Monza in January – Monza have shown no intention in letting him go mid-season.
