Roma are working on Chris Smalling’s exit from the club.
The Giallorossi have decided to exclude the Englishman from their plans for next season.
After five years in the Italian capital, Smalling seems to have come to the end of his spell with the Giallorossi colors.
No longer deemed essential to the project, Roma are ready to send Smalling off to Saudi Arabia.
According to Il Tempo, that is where the veteran defender has drawn most interest from and where Roma are hoping to find a permanent buyer for the 34-year-old.
The newspaper reports that Smalling’s departure would free up enough space on the club’s wage bill for Roma to be able to afford the signing of free agent Mats Hummels.
The ex-Bayern Munich man is said to be in talks with the Italian club after deciding to leave Borussia Dortmund.
