A major boost for Roma’s transfer market could come from the hugely expensive sale of Riccardo Calafiori, who is about to be sold from Bologna to Arsenal for around 45 million euros.
Roma remain certain they are entitled to a good chunk of that money: in fact, half of the total fee will go to Basel, who retained 50% of the player’s resale at the time of his move to Bologna.
And, according to Corriere della Sera, this is where Roma comes into play.
The Giallorossi claim 40% of the 22.5 million euros that the Swiss club will collect, i.e. around 9 million: at the time of the sale to the Swiss club, they claim in Trigoria, Roma obtained 40% not only on the fixed fee (1.5 million have already been collected ) but also on the bonuses.
Roma’s lawyers have sent a letter to Basel to demand payment of the share that would be due to the Giallorossi. The matter therefore risks ending up in court.
