Roma are reportedly on the tracks of Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo who shares an interesting past with Giallorossi executive Florent Ghisolfi.
The French technical director – appointed by Roma just a couple of weeks ago following his exit from Nice – is said to be preparing an extensive list of transfer targets from Ligue 1.
Ghisolfi’s familiarity with France’s top flight as well as his extensive scouting network there will favor Roma in their new sustainable project which will be more oriented towards youth, low-cost investments and high prospects.
One of the names Ghisolfi seems to be keen on is that of Rennes attacker Arnaud Kalimuendo.
Kalimuendo is said to be among the players Roma are considering as Lukaku’s replacement.
The 22-year-old striker was discovered by Ghisolfi in PSG’s U19 team – it was Ghisolfi who brought him to Lens where Kalimuendo spent two consecutive seasons on loan, collecting 21 goals and 6 assists in over 60 appearances for the team that would eventually go on to qualify to the Champions League.
After that, Kalimuendo continued to show promising things, scoring 22 goals and 10 assists since his move to Rennes in 2022.
Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Ghisolfi wants to reunite with the striker in Italy at Roma.
Rennes are asking for a sum of €20 million – Roma consider this a fair deal given the player’s potential and fit in Daniele De Rossi’s desired 4-3-3 system.
Ghisolfi is expected to carry on negotiations for the young French striker.
