Roma have slowed down in their talks with veteran defender Mats Hummels.
After securing Mario Hermoso’s signing, the Giallorossi turned their attention to the ex-Borussia Dortmund man who is still without a team to his name.
According to Il Tempo, the Giallorossi slowed down in their negotiations with Hummels’ camp because of the player’s economic requests: Hummels wants a salary of around 3 million euros per season.
Roma are reflecting on whether to proceed with the deal and green light Hummels’ requests or not.
There aren’t many alternatives on the free agent market, except for ex-Liverpool man Matip, and De Rossi wouldn’t want to risk facing a first part of the season with only three central defenders on his team.
In the next few hours the club will have to decide whether to try to convince Hummels to join or try to move on to some other target, seeing as the UEFA list for the Europa League must be delivered by tomorrow.
