The latest report by La Repubblica suggests the Giallorossi had the opportunity to sign Atalanta star Ademola Lookman in 2022 but ultimately voted against it.

It was a couple of months prior to the team winning the Conference League trophy that Ademola Lookman was offered to Roma.

The Giallorossi evaluated the player’s skillset and qualities but were unconvinced by some of his traits.

The article specifies that then head scout Jose Fontes advised against signing Lookman due to “average positional sense, poor ability to anticipate after evaluating and making decisions after receiving the ball.”

Fontes’ report went on: “In the defensive phase he is elementary in terms of understanding the game. A player I have reservations about about his competitive mentality, his confidence and ability to perform under pressure.”

“He is very inconsistent in his performances. There are better solutions available to us and I would not recommend hiring him.”

The 26-year-old winger then decided to join Atalanta from Leicester City and would go on to score 15 goals and 8 assists this season, leading the Bergamaschi to a historic Europa League victory.
