Roma are increasingly worried about Chris Smalling’s condition.
The English defender started off strong in the first week of preseason just to see his minutes go down in Roma’s recent friendlies due to minor injuries.
According to Il Messaggero, the capital club are preoccupied with the situation: Smalling has already gone down injured twice in the last two weeks.
The hope was to get him back into shape for one last season before the expiry of his contract.
For lack of offers, the Giallorossi were ready to make him a reliable back-up option.
However, entering his fifth year at the club, Smalling is not showing positive signs for the upcoming campaign.
He is once again expected to miss Roma’s next friendly with Olympiacos on Saturday.
