Roma will be active in January to further boost Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.

This has been discussed in recent days at Trigoria with vice president Ryan Friedkin, who confirmed his desire to be able to sign players in January.

Gasperini wants a striker, if not two. Especially since yesterday another blow fell on an attack already decimated by injuries.

This time, Dovbyk was sidelined. At Trigoria, they’re hoping to have him back in four weeks. However, the risk is that his 2025 contract is over.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma’s priority remains Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United.

The ex-Bologna man has already reiterated several times that he wants to leave Manchester United, partly to avoid missing the World Cup. The problem is that the player’s agent would prefer him to stay in the Premier League.

So far, among the English clubs, only West Ham, third-from-bottom, have shown interest. Zirkzee would prefer Italy and Roma to fight for something big.

However, in the meantime, Roma sporting director Frederic Massara has also added Gianluca Scamacca onto the club’s transfer shortlist.

The Italian striker is supposedly open to the idea of leaving Atalanta in January and reuniting with Gasperini in the Italian capital.
