Still distance between Roma-Celik over contract renewal

At Roma, the issue of Zeki Celik’s contract renewal remains open and delicate.

The Turkish defender’s contract expires on June 30, 2026, and it continues to dominate the Trigoria corridors.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, negotiations are still on hold and a definitive agreement has yet to be reached between the Giallorossi club and the player’s entourage, despite Celik’s importance in Gian Piero Gasperini’s system.

The coach has relaunched the player in his first year at the club and is pushing the management to keep him.

However, Massara has not yet moved on from his latest offer to the Turk.

The main disagreement between the parties concerns financial matters. While Celik’s current contract is worth approximately €2 million net plus bonuses, the player and his agents have reportedly made much higher demands, with proposals of approximately €4 million net per season, a figure the management currently deems excessive.

Precisely for this reason, despite Gasperini’s intense pressure, Roma has yet to formalize an official offer that meets the player’s demands. In the absence of an agreement, the prospect of a free transfer at the end of the season cannot be ruled out.

Juventus, in particular, has been pursuing the player for some time and is monitoring the situation before making a move.
