Roma has been trying to get Davide Frattesi back into their team for some time. The 22 year-old is in talks to return to the club following his 2017 exit, when he was sold to Sassuolo on a permanent deal.
Frattesi caught the attention of nearly every big club in Italy in recent months thanks to his breakout season with the Neroverdi. But his strong ties to the Giallorossi have them on the verge of reuniting with the midfielder.
So let’s explore the midfielder’s recent successes and his explosion over the past couple of seasons.
Hunt for Frattesi
Sassuolo and Roma opened negotiations for Frattesi regarding a return to the Italian capital. However, the 22 year-old recently extended his contract in March and is tied to the club until 2026.
After loan spells at Ascoli, Empoli and Monza, the midfielder played thirty-eight competitive games for Sassuolo this past season, scoring five goals and providing several assists.
Several clubs including Inter and Milan expressed interest in his services, but the youngster preferred to return to his boyhood club Roma, who were also keen to bring him back.
Roma and Sassuolo still haven’t reached an agreement for a transfer fee but reports claim they’re getting closer. The Giallorossi’s preference of reuniting with Frattesi won’t come cheap, though.

Though, if Roma successfully pull-off a deal for Frattesi, the Italian international certainly makes Jose Mourinho’s more solid and entertaining.
