The final part of Roma’s summer transfer window was marked by the search for a winger, an attacking midfielder capable of scoring goals and producing quality.

Several players were considered, from Sancho to George, and Fabio Silva, but no other reinforcements arrived beyond Leon Bailey.

If Wesley had been asked for advice, the Giallorossi winger would have had a ready answer.

Interviewed by TNT Brasil during the national team’s training camp, he revealed which former Flamengo teammate he would bring to Roma: “Can’t we bring the whole team?” he joked, before making a firm choice: “De Arrascaeta, he would be perfect for us.”

The Uruguayan attacking midfielder, who holds an Italian passport, is coming off a top-notch season: 12 goals and 10 assists in 19 league games.

Flamengo’s number 10, he has demonstrated great versatility, playing in all attacking and attacking midfield positions.

His contract expiring in December 2026 isn’t an insurmountable obstacle, but his identity card is: at 31, De Arrascaeta doesn’t fit the age parameters of the Giallorossi’s transfer strategy.
