La Gazzett dello Sport: With the departure of Sabatini and the arrival of Umberto Gandini, the “third millennium” of Roma is set to kick-off.
Gandini, who arrived to the capital after a long tenure with Milan and has signed a three year contract with Roma, assured fans of what he brings to Trigoria when introduced today: “I have chosen to make a quantum leap. With me, there will be growth at the international level, due to experience of a high standard I gained with UEFA and FIFA, not to mention that soon I will have new responsibilities.”
He continued, “If I hadn’t come to Roma, I would have gone abroad. The Giallorossi are the only Italian club where I could continue my career. Moreover, my time at Milan ending was natural. I was proud of the proposal from AS Roma. Roma have very large ambitions, in the last five years, they have always been competitive, but above all, they are a part of the present and the future. It’s cutting edge. The goal here for everyone is to be successful. The Serie A has become a pass-through league, whereas before we were a point of arrival. We are losing ground, we have to roll up our sleeves. The new stadium of Roma is an amazing opportunity, it will give us resonance and recognition.”
