English defender Chris Smalling recently praised the exceptional nature of Roma supporters.

In an interview with Business of Sport, Smalling discussed the differences between the way Roma fans experience their favorite team compared to fans in England.

“In Rome you live in a sort of bubble, and literally everywhere you go you only find Roma fans,” said the veteran centreback.

“In England you may happen to meet some guys on the street who stop you to ask you for a photo, here you can find a couple of grandparents, crazy about Roma, who show you their tattoos on their arms and invite you for a coffee.”

“It’s a passion that affects the whole family, it’s great to be part of all of this,” he added.
