Veteran shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel was recently linked with Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

According to Il Messaggero, Schmeichel’s exit from OGC Nice put him on Roma’s radar given Rui Patricio’s poor start to the season and consistently underwhelming performances.

The newspaper claims Schmeichel was offered as a free agent to the capital club in recent days, but the Giallorossi turned him down after consulting with Mourinho himself.

As a result, Schmeichel accepted a proposal from Anderlecht.

The Special One continues to put his trust in Patricio whom he is very close with.

Patricio was Mourinho’s first signing at the club in 2021 and the Portuguese technician is showing no intention of preemptively putting the goal-keeper’s starting status in question.
